The New Zealand Paragliding Open Round 2, 2014 will be held in Rotorua from 21st Feb to 1st Mar 2014. This is the second of two FAI Cat2 competitions for the NZ season. All tasks from this competition will count towards both the WPRS ranking and the NZ ladder. Note to get a WPRS ranking you require a FIS Licence. It is the pilot's own responsibility to apply for the licence. At the end of this competition the NZ PG Champions will be awarded on points gained from each pilots best tasks in both rounds of the PGOpen.
The entry fee will be NZ$140 if paid by 15th Dec, this includes pilot pack, competition organisation, T-Shirt, daily briefings including weather summary, and presentation dinner. An upgrade to an Icebreaker T-Shirt is available for an additional NZ$40. After 15th Dec the fee will be NZ$165 and no T-Shirt will be included.
We are offering a Weekend Warriors registration, to fly Saturday 22 Feb, Sunday 23 Feb and Saturday 1 March, for $60. It includes the pilot pack, competition organisation, daily briefings including weather summary (T-Shirt and prize dinner are not included). There will be a welcoming reception at the competition headquarters, Rotorua Thermal Holiday Park, Old Taupo Rd, Rotorua www.rotoruathermal.co.nz on Friday 21st Feb at 1800 where you will be able to complete registration, collect pilot packs, get GPS uploads and hang around trying to borrow the gear you forgot to bring with you. First formal briefing will be on Saturday 22nd at 0800 at the same venue.

Rotorua is a major tourist centre with excellent transport links to the major NZ cities and airports. Check out http://www.nakedbus.com/ for good deals on buses to Rotorua.
Flying sites are approx 40-60 mins drive from Rotorua and require 4WD vehicles for access to the take off. There will be some spare capacity in private vehicles but pilots are advised to contact the organisers or post details on the NZHGPA forum http://www.nzhgpa.org.nz/phpBB/index.php if they need assistance with transport arrangements.
